Four Vulcans collect academic accolades

CALIFORNIA (June 16) – The California (PA) women's golf team placed four golfers on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team on Tuesday afternoon.

Sophomore Angelique Epondulan, senior Ari Kaser, junior Jessica Ricciardi and sophomore Amanda Woods received the honor from the organization. Kaser and Ricciardi repeated as recipients of the accolade, while Epondulan and Woods collected laurels in their first year of eligibility.

Epondulan ranked second on the team in scoring average at 89.2 strokes, an improvement of nearly 15 strokes from last year. She posted a trio of top-10 finishes and ranked second on the team at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships in April. Epondulan holds a 3.63 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) while pursuing a degree in finance and personal financial planning.

A native of Ohio, Kaser led the team in scoring average for a consecutive season with a career-best 82.3 strokes. She was the team's top finisher at nine events with five top-five finishes, plus a top-10 performance at the league championships for the first time in her career. Kaser maintains a 3.97 cumulative GPA while completing a degree in biology with a concentration in molecular biology & biotechnology with dual minors in digital media technology and chemistry.

Ricciardi established a career-best scoring average of 91.9 strokes while playing all 10 events. She carded the lowest round of her career at the PSAC Championships while posting her best career finish at the event. Ricciardi boasts a 3.970 cumulative GPA while majoring in integrated business with a concentration in event planning and management with dual minors in tourism and hospitality management and honors interdisciplinary studies.

A native of Westmoreland County, Woods trimmed nearly nine strokes off her scoring average from last year by finishing at 90.3 strokes. She fired the lowest round of her career at 85 on the opening day of the league championships. Woods holds a 3.95 cumulative GPA while pursuing a degree in secondary education with a concentration in secondary English.

To qualify for CSC Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, maintain a cumulative 3.50 GPA and have competed in at least 75 percent of the team's total scored events or play at the conference championship tournament. Additionally, each institution is capped at six nominees in the women's at-large program, which includes the sports of beach volleyball, bowling, crew/rowing, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, water polo and wrestling.
