BETHLEHEM, Pa. (March 1) – Senior
Alice Etienne was named Outstanding Field Athlete at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships, as the Vulcans won three individual league titles on the last day of the championship event to finish fourth in the team standings on Sunday.
Etienne became the first women's standout in program history – indoor or outdoor – to receive Outstanding Field Athlete laurels at the PSAC Championships. She broke her own school record and eclipsed the league championship record in the triple jump on Sunday while capturing the program's first league title in the event. Etienne also became the school's first standout – men's or women's – to win multiple indoor league titles in field events after claiming the program's first conference crown in the long jump yesterday.
On Sunday, Etienne registered a distance of 12.25 meters (40-2.25 feet) in the triple jump on her sixth and final attempt. She broke the championship record of 12.14 meters (39-10.0 feet) set in 2019 by Abby Wagner of Shippensburg. Etienne also shattered her school record of 12.09 meters (39-8.0 feet) set last month while in Virginia. The 5-foot-5 senior now ranks No. 15 on the national performance list in the triple jump.
The California (PA) women's track & field team scored in nine events and totaled 73 points over the weekend. Slippery Rock claimed the league title for a third-consecutive year with 98.5 points while winning just one of 17 events. East Stroudsburg finished second in the team standings with 88 points and Bloomsburg ranked third with 85 points.
Sophomore
Loreena Manser joined two-time National Champion Divonne Franklin as the only sprinters in program history to sweep the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash at the league championships. Manser registered the fastest time in both events during the preliminaries and finals to secure her first career conference titles. She won the 60 meters with a time of 7.62 seconds in the finals following a personal record of 7.51 seconds in the preliminaries. Manser cruised to the victory in the 200 meters after crossing the finish line in 24.97 seconds, which was over 0.25 seconds faster than the rest of the field.

Amanda Mercurius and Manser posted a season-best time of 3 minutes, 57.18 seconds.
In addition to Manser, sophomore
Riley Tighe also earned All-PSAC laurels in the 60 meters. She placed third overall with a time of 7.79 seconds in the finals. Cal boasted multiple All-PSAC honorees in the event for the first time since the 2020 campaign.
Mercurius also scored as an individual in the 200 meters on Sunday by finishing in fifth place with a time of 25.79 seconds. Sophomore
Brianna Lee scored in the high jump at the league championships for the second time in her career, as she placed eighth overall with a height of 1.64 meters (5-4.5 feet).
The Vulcans reached NCAA provisional standards in five events this season with Etienne (triple jump) and Manser (long jump) both sitting among the top 15 in the country in their respective events.
