Women's Golf places seventh at championships

KUTZTOWN, Pa. (April 27) – The California (PA) women's golf team closed the season by finishing seventh in the team standings at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships on Sunday afternoon.

The Vulcans shot a 66-over 354 in the third round and closed the tournament with a 185-over 1049 (356-339-354). Gannon captured the PSAC Championships for the sixth-consecutive season after leading wire-to-wire at the Berkleigh Golf Club. The Golden Knights won the event by 20 strokes with a 102-over 966 (324-313-329) with West Chester finishing second at 122-over 986 (328-320-338) and Millersville ranking third at 139-over 1003 (332-328-343).

Senior Madelyn Myers led the team and ranked 11th overall on the individual leader board with a 35-over 251 (85-82-84). She played the front nine at three-over on Sunday and paced the team with 23 pars over the three days. Myers posted a team-best finish at the PSAC Championships for the first time in her career and closed the year with a career-best scoring average of 85.3 strokes.

Junior Ari Kaser tied for 20th place with a 41-over 257 (90-82-85) over the weekend. She has carded a top-20 finish at the league championships twice in her career. Kaser led the team this season with a scoring average of 83.6 strokes while playing all 10 events.

Freshman Amanda Woods shot a 46-over 262 (85-84-93) and finished 26th overall. She set a personal-best score in each of the opening two rounds at the conference event. Sophomore Jessica Ricciardi and freshman Angelique Epondulan registered back-to-back finishes at Nos. 41 and 42, respectively, on Sunday. Ricciardi shot a 67-over 283 (96-94-93) in her second appearance at the PSAC Championships and Epondulan posted a 68-over 284 (101-91-93).

Gannon senior Ditte Peterson became the first women's golfer in league history to earn medalist honors at three-consecutive conference championships. She won the event by six strokes on Sunday after firing a 17-over 233 (78-76-79).
