KUTZTOWN, Pa. (April 25) – The California (PA) women's golf team shot a 68-over 356 on Friday afternoon in the opening round of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships at Berkleigh Golf Club.
The Vulcans sit seventh in the team standings after the initial 18 holes at the 54-hole championship event. Gannon jumped out to a four-stroke lead on Friday by firing a 36-over 324 after three players carded rounds at 10-over or better. West Chester sits second at 40-over 328 following the opening round and Millersville ranks third with a 44-over 332.
Senior
Madelyn Myers and freshman
Amanda Woods are tied for the team lead with a 13-over 85 and are tied for 16th overall on the individual leader board. Myers birdied the par-four seventh and tallied seven pars on Friday, while Woods carded a season-best score and led the entire field with a trio of birdies in the opening round.
Junior
Ari Kaser sits in 31st place after shooting an 18-over 90 in the opening round with a birdie on the par-three third. Sophomore
Jessica Ricciardi posted a 24-over 96 and is tied for 39th overall, while freshman
Angelique Epondulan ranks in 45th place with a 29-over 101.
Gannon senior Ditte Peterson is the opening-round leader after firing a six-over 78. She tallied 12 pars in the opening round, most in the field, while holding a one-stroke lead.
Cal continues play at the PSAC Championships tomorrow, Saturday, April 26, with its second-round tee times starting at 10:30 a.m.
