Kaser captures weekly league laurels

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (April 2) – Behind an impressive finish in the eastern side of the state, California (PA) junior Ari Kaser was chosen the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Athlete of the Week on Wednesday afternoon.

Kaser placed second overall on the individual leader board while at the Alvernia Spring Invitational with a 20-over 164 (81-83). She was top finisher among the NCAA Division II entries at the event that featured seven teams, including five PSAC programs. Kaser carded par on 17 holes over the two rounds, plus fired back-to-back birdies on the front nine in the opening round.

A native of Ohio, Kaser leads the team with a career-best scoring average of 83.2 strokes – over a two-stroke improvement from last year. She has been the team's top finisher in seven of the eight events this season, highlighted by five top-five performances. Kaser fired a pair of sub-80 rounds in the fall while finishing third at the Vulcan Invitational held at Cedarbrook Golf Course.

Kaser earned the weekly league laurel for the second time in his career, as she previously received it last April after capturing medalist honors at the Dr. Edwin Cottrell Invitational hosted by West Chester.

The Vulcans return to action on April 12 when they compete at the Millersville Spring Tournament held at Tanglewood Manor Course in Quarryville, Pennsylvania.
