CALABASH, N.C. (March 8) – The California (PA) men's golf team started the spring campaign with a total of 12 golfers finishing play on Saturday at the Battle of Brunswick along the border of North Carolina and South Carolina.
NOTES
• The Vulcans finished seventh in the team standings with a 63-over 927 (309-305-313), as the event featured golfers from 12 schools.
• Senior
Cole Villa was the program's top finisher with a five-over 221 (73-75-73) while playing as an individual.
• He tied for sixth overall in a field of 92 golfers after firing a total of seven birdies, including a pair on the par-five fifth.
• The trio of sophomore
Gavin Goodrich, senior
Jack Hritsko and freshman
Rocky Mittica tied for the team lead and 23rd place with a 16-over 232 at the event.
• Goodrich (80-77-75) shot a three-over 75 in the final round, highlighted by an eagle on the par-five 15th.
• Hritsko (79-74-79) posted a two-over 74 in the second round after opening the back nine with back-to-back birdies.
• Mittica (77-77-78) registered a total of six birdies at the event hosted by Davis & Elkins.
• Pitt-Johnstown earned the invitational title by four strokes with a 29-over 893 (299-298-296).
• Saginaw Valley State (MI) junior Shea Harmeson captured medalist laurels by two strokes with a one-over 217 (70-75-72).
