Vulcans capture title at home event

WASHINGTON, Pa. (March 25) – The California (PA) men's golf team earned its second tournament title of the season on Tuesday when it captured the crown while hosting the Vulcan Fire Classic at Lone Pine Country Club.

NOTES
• The Vulcans won the tournament title by 13 strokes after firing a 37-over 613 (312-301).
• The event featured 55 golfers from seven different programs, including five PSAC programs.
• Sophomore Chaz Ekoniak and senior Cole Villa tied for the team lead and second overall with a four-over 148.
• Ekoniak (78-70) shot a two-under 70 in the second round after carding four birdies on the front nine.
• Villa (75-73) was tied for the individual lead following the first round behind a three-over 75 with a staggering six birdies on Monday.
• Freshman Nixen Erdely finished in fourth place with a six-over 150 (77-73) while playing as an individual.
• Sophomore Anthony DePietress shot a 13-over 157 (79-78) to tie for 13th overall at Lone Pine.
• Millersville sophomore Timothy Peters captured medalist honors by four strokes with an even-par 144 (75-69) following a three-under in the final round.

• Cal returns to action at the West Liberty Invitational held at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, West Virginia, on April 7-8.
