Alice Etienne was chosen Field Athlete of the Week.
The Vulcans opened the indoor season on Friday at the 14th-annual Youngstown State Icebreaker. The event in Ohio featured entries from more than 30 programs across all three NCAA divisions, as well as the NAIA, NCCAA and PSUAC.
Manser reached a pair of NCAA provisional standards and three PSAC qualifying marks at YSU. She set a personal record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.57 seconds during the preliminaries before placing sixth in the finals behind four NCAA Division I entries and a four-time NCAA Division III All-American. Manser also crossed the finish line second overall in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.43 seconds – the fastest indoor time of her career. The Virginia native additionally reached the PSAC qualifying standard in the long jump with a distance of 5.56 meters (18-3.0 feet).
A native of Virginia, Manser received the weekly laurel for the second time in her career. She was a four-time All-PSAC honoree as a freshman last year, including recognition in the 200 meters during both the indoor and outdoor campaigns.
Etienne won the triple jump at the season-opening event while reaching the NCAA provisional standard in the event. She recorded a distance of 11.87 meters (38-11.5 feet) on her fifth and final attempt at YSU. Etienne posted the second-longest indoor mark of her career on Friday behind only her career-best indoor jump at the 2024 PSAC Championships.
A 5-foot-5 senior, Etienne has collected All-PSAC status six times in her career with five times being in the triple jump. She has placed as high as second in the event at the league championships, including last spring.
The Vulcans swept the weekly league accolades for the first time since April 2023.
