CLINTON, Pa. (Oct. 11) – In their final preparation prior to the league championships, the Vulcans competed at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational on Saturday morning.
TEAM NOTES
• The California (PA) women's cross country team placed 13th overall in the standings with 324 points.
• Edinboro captured the invitational title with 54 points behind a trio of top-10 scorers.
• Ashland (OH) finished second in the team standings with 86 points, while Slippery Rock ranked third with 92 points.
• The event, which was held just five miles from the Pittsburgh International Airport, featured entries from all three NCAA divisions, including non-scoring entries from West Virginia and Duquesne.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
• Junior
Rosalyn Perozzi crossed the finish line fifth overall with a time of 17:28.30.
• She has posted a top-five finish in three of the four races this fall.
• Perozzi recorded the fastest time of runners from the seven Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) programs at the event hosted by CMU.
• Freshman
Kailyn Hamilton finished in 31st place after closing the five-kilometer race with a time of 18:27.60.
• Glenville State junior Natalie Barr earned the victory by just over one second with a time of 17:06.70.
NEXT
• The Vulcans are idle for two weeks before competing at the PSAC Championships on Oct. 25 in Edinboro, Pennsylvania.
• Cal will be competing at Edinboro for the first time since the league championships were hosted by the Fighting Scots in 2018.
