Watson remains among top 20 after two rounds

WHEELING, W.Va. (May 10) – California (PA) senior Reese Watson sits in a tie for 16th overall after posting a six-over 77 in the second round of the NCAA Atlantic/East Region Championships on Friday.

Watson ranks 16th overall with a six-over 148 (71-77) through two rounds while playing at The Jones Course at Oglebay Resort. On Friday, he carded a one-over on the front nine with a birdie on the par-four second and closed the round with four-consecutive pars. Watson has totaled 19 pars with five birdies and one eagle at the regional championships.

Gannon remains in the lead in the team standings with an eight-over 576 after firing a two-under 282 on Friday. Charleston (W.Va.) continues to rank second at the event with an 18-over 586 (296-290) and St. Thomas Aquinas (N.Y.) sits third overall at 32-over 600 (300-300).

Gannon junior Michael Wareham stretched his lead on the individual leader board by carding a three-under 68 in the second round. He holds a four-stroke lead over the field with a five-under 137 (69-68) through 36 holes.

Watson closes play at the NCAA Atlantic/East Region Championships tomorrow, Saturday, May 11, with a shotgun start of 9:30 a.m.
