LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (April 3) – After capturing medalist honors for the second time in her career, California (PA) sophomore
Ari Kaser was tabbed the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Athlete of the Week on Wednesday afternoon.
Kaser tied for first place on the individual leader board at the rain-shortened Dr. Edwin Cottrell Invitational hosted by West Chester. She carded an eight-over 78 on Monday before the event was shortened due to rain and course conditions on Tuesday. Kaser, who tallied 11 pars in the first round, earned medalist laurels by virtue of a back-nine tiebreaker while playing at the Penn Oaks Golf Club. Additionally, the 5-foot-6 sophomore helped the Vulcans claim their first tournament title of the season by two strokes after shooting a 54-over 334 on Monday.
An Ohio native, Kaser was playing her second event of the season after missing all of the fall campaign due to injury. She made her debut this year last week by tying for fourth place with a 29-over 173 (90-83) at the Vulcan Fire Classic hosted by Cal at Lone Pine Country Club. Kaser previously earned medalist status as a freshman last April at the Peter C. Rossin Memorial hosted by Washington & Jefferson.
Cal has featured multiple recipients of the weekly league honor this year for the first time since fall of 2021.
The Vulcans return to the links on April 12 when they compete at the Mercyhurst Spring Invitational held at the Lake View Country Club in North East, Pennsylvania.
