Women's Golf drops to fifth in second round

KUTZTOWN, Pa. (April 27) – Led by juniors Madelyn Myers and Keegan Selinsky, the California (PA) women's golf team ranks fifth in the standings through two rounds at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships on Saturday afternoon.

The Vulcans shot a 54-over 342 in the second round and holds a 101-over 677 (335-342) entering the final round. Gannon stretched its lead in the team standings to 39 strokes after firing a 22-over 310 on Saturday and sits at 40-over 616 (306-310). Millersville climbed to second in the standings at 79-over 655 (336-319) and Mercyhurst dropped to third at 82-over 658 (322-336).

Myers carded a nine-over 81 on Saturday to climb to ninth overall on the individual leader board with a 19-over 163 (82-81). She fired a pair of birdies on the front nine in the second round and leads the team with 17 pars through 36 holes. Myers has already carded the lowest two championship rounds of her career, as she previously played at the league championships as a freshman.

Selinksy climbed five spots on the leader board with a 10-over 82 in the second round to tie for 13th place with a 22-over 166 (84-82). She collected a pair of birdies in a six-hole span during the middle of her round on Saturday, as she birdied the par-five 13th for a consecutive round.

Sophomore Ari Kaser fell eight positions after shooting a 17-over 89 on Saturday despite firing an eagle on the par-five 16th. She is tied for 21st overall with a 28-over 172 (83-89) after being the team's top scorer the last two events. Senior Morgan Hughes is tied for 32nd place with a 32-over 176 (86-90) after finishing with an 18-over 90 in the second round. Freshman Jessica Ricciardi rounds out the team scorers with a 20-over 92 on Saturday and sits 42nd overall with a 38-over 182 (90-92).

Gannon junior Ditte Peterson continues to lead the field after firing a two-over 74 in the second round. She holds a two-stroke lead entering the final round with a one-over 145 (71-74).

Cal closes play at the PSAC Championships tomorrow, Sunday, April 28, with tee times starting at 11 a.m.
