SUNSET BEACH, N.C. (March 8) – The California (PA) men's golf team opened its spring season by placing fifth in the standings at the Sea Trail Intercollegiate on the Rees Jones Course with the two-day event hosted by Ohio Dominican.
TEAM NOTES
• The Vulcans carded a 25-over 601 (295-306) over two rounds at the par-72 course.
• Gannon earned the invitational crown by five strokes with a two-over 578 (290-288) behind two of the top-four individual finishers.
• Saginaw Valley State (Mich.) fired the lowest round of the tournament at six-under 282 on Friday to finish second in the team standings at seven-over 583 (301-282).
• The tournament featured nine teams from five states, including three from Pennsylvania.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
• Senior
Connor Alfieri paced the team and tied for 12th overall with a four-over 148 (70-78).
• He tallied seven birdies while in North Carolina, including five in a span of 12 holes during the opening round.
• Fellow senior
Brandon Singer shot a five-over 149 (74-75) and tied for 15th place in a field of nearly 70 golfers.
• Gannon senior Shaunak Rama claimed medalist honors by one stroke with a three-under 141 (71-70).
• Gannon freshman Mattia Parrini fired a three-under 69 in the opening round and finished the event in a three-way tie for second place after carding 12 birdies.

• Cal returns to the links in two-plus weeks when it hosts the Vulcan Fire Classic on March 25-26 at the Lone Pine Country Club in Washington, Pennsylvania.
