CALIFORNIA (March 9) – After capturing the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship earlier this week, the California (PA) women's basketball team will open the NCAA Tournament tomorrow, Friday, March 9, at 12 p.m. hosted by Glenville State at the Waco Center.
STORYLINES
• Last time out: The Vulcans claimed their seventh PSAC Championship in program history with a 75-63 win over top-seeded Gannon as sophomore
Allycia Harris was named the PSAC Tournament MVP behind 19 points and career-high 20 rebounds on Sunday.
• Cal is making its eighth NCAA Tournament appreance in the last eight playing seasons.
ABOUT THE VULCANS
• Head coach,
Jess Strom is in her 12th season as head coach while leading the Vulcans to their ninth appearance in the NCAA Tournament with her at the helm.
• Cal ranks 10th in the region and second in the conference with 13.5 offensive rebounds per game.
• Junior
Halle Herrington led the Vulcans in scoring during the PSAC Tournament with 17.6 points per game while Harris averaged a staggering 14.3 rebounds per contest and senior
Ciaira Loyd dished out 6.0 assists per game.
ABOUT THE GOLDEN RAMS
• Ninth-year head coach, Kiera Wooden has guided the Golden Rams to their fourth NCAA Tournament appearance since taking over in 2014 and has been named the PSAC East Coach of the Year in 2018 and 2023.
• West Chester paces the region in rebound margin with a 7.7 mark, which is ranked 12th in the nation.
• The Golden Rams have four players averaging double-digit points, led by junior Emily McAteer who is averaging 15.8 points per game and was tabbed First-Team All-PSAC

• Cal and West Chester are meeting in the NCAA Tournament for the first time dating back to the 2007-08 season
