BLOOMSBURG, Pa. (Oct. 8) – The California (PA) doubles team of senior Carmen Duran and freshman Bega Gotor advanced to the quarterfinals of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Individual Championships on Sunday.

Duran and Gotor earned an 8-3 victory over Sherin Paul and Samantha Passmore of East Stroudsburg in the opening round. The Vulcans then dropped an 8-0 match to the Slippery Rock tandem of Gabriela del Val del Toro, a three-time All-PSAC West selection in singles, and Nicole Kempton in the quarterfinals of the doubles bracket.

In the singles flight, sophomore Diletta Maria Mungo and junior Maria Del Mar Ojeda both suffered losses in the first round on Sunday. Mungo suffered a 6-2, 6-4 loss to Johanna Priedite of Edinboro and Del Mar Ojeda fell by a 6-2, 6-1 count to Marketa Baladova of Shepherd.

The Vulcans are scheduled to close out their fall season on Saturday, Oct. 14, with a dual match against Westminster (Pa.) in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, at 12 p.m.
