COLLEGE PARK, Md. (Oct. 22) – The Vulcans played an exhibition contest against preseason No. 11 Maryland of the Big Ten at the XFINITY Center on Sunday afternoon.
TEAM NOTES
• The California (PA) women's basketball team posted a 21-11 overall record last year, highlighted by the program's seventh overall PSAC Championship.
• The Vulcans made an eighth-straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 2023.
• Maryland finished last season with a 27-7 overall record and advanced to the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament before losing to eventual-national runner-up Iowa.
• The Terrapins earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament for the 13th-consecutive season and advanced to the Elite Eight before losing to South Carolina.
• Maryland assistant coach/defensive specialist Kaitlynn Fratz was a starting guard for the Vulcans when they captured the 2015 NCAA National Championship.
• A native of Maryland, Fratz enters her seventh year on the coaching staff with the Terps.
• Cal and Maryland previously played an exhibition during the 2019-20 campaign.
GAME ACTION
• The Vulcans trailed by two possessions, 14-8, at the 4:23-mark of the first quarter before the Terps went on a 10-2 run to seize a 24-10 lead at the quarter break.
• Maryland led by as many as 22 points in the first half before taking a 39-18 lead at the break.
• The Terps scored over 30 points in both the third and four quarters to finish with a 103-37victory.

• Junior Shanne Sellers, a 2023 All-Big Ten First-Team selection, finished with 10 points, six rebounds and seven assists in 31 minutes.
