LEBANON, Pa. (Oct. 20) – Led by senior Brandon Singer, the Vulcans carded a 22-over 310 in the opening round of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships on Friday at Iron Valley Country Club.

The California (PA) men's golf team sits fourth in the team standings after the initial 18 holes of the event, just three strokes back of second place. Four-time, defending-PSAC Champion IUP took a five-stroke lead in the opening round with a 14-over 302 behind a trio of golfers among the top 10 of the individual leader board. Gannon sits second in the team standings at 19-over 307 and Millersville is close behind in third place with a 21-over 309.

Singer fired a three-over 75 on the opening day of the league championships and sits tied for sixth overall. He made the turn at four-over behind back-to-back birdies on the front and played the back nine at one-under after registering an eagle on the par-five, 480-yard 16th. Singer, who is playing at the conference event for the second-straight year, was one of four players in the field to finish the opening round with an even-par scoring average on the course's four par threes.

Fellow seniors Connor Alfieri and Reese Watson are tied for 15th place with a six-over 78 following the opening round. Alfieri collected a trio of birdies on the back nine on Friday and Watson posted eight pars in a span of nine holes. Freshman Gavin Goodrich carded a seven-over 79 and is tied for 21st overall after tallying a trio of birdies, while senior Aidan Bushey sits tied for 30th place with a nine-over 81 after the opening round.

Gannon sophomore Giovanni Delorenzi holds a one-stroke lead on the individual leader board after shooting an even-par 72 on Friday. He led the field with 13 pars in the opening round and collected three birdies in a span of four holes after double-bogeying the par-four 1st.

The PSAC Championships are set to resume tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 21, in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, with the initial tee times set for approximately 10 a.m. The Vulcans are scheduled for an 11 a.m. tee time in the second round.
