MILLERSVILLE, Pa. (May 14) – The Vulcans placed fifth in the team standings at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships on Saturday with four entries earning All-PSAC honors during the final day of the league meet.
The California University of Pennsylvania men's track & field team scored 57 points in 11 different events at the league meet. Shippensburg captured its 13th-consecutive conference title with 200 points. Slippery Rock placed second in the team standings with 118.5 points, while East Stroudsburg finished third with 104.5 points.
In the 4x100-meter relay, junior
Kristopher Lytle (Columbia, Md./Atholton), freshman
Aaron McPherson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Brentwood), junior
Tyrese Canada (Richmond, Va./Henrico) and senior
Jalen Cloud (Leechburg, Pa./Kiski) placed second with a season-best time of 41.36 seconds. The Vulcans featured an All-PSAC relay team during both the indoor (4x400) and outdoor campaigns for the first time since 2018.
Individually, Cloud placed second in the triple jump with a distance of 14.44 meters (47-4.5 feet) on his sixth attempt. He received All-PSAC laurels in three events over the weekend (triple jump, long jump, 4x100) after capturing the league title in the triple jump this winter.
Sophomore
Noah Bernarding (Cochranton, Pa./Cochranton) set a personal record in the finals of the 800-meter run on Saturday. He crossed the finish line with a time of 1 minute, 52.29 seconds to place third overall. Bernarding earned All-PSAC status as an individual for the first time in his track & field career. The 5-foot-10 sophomore nearly also scored in the 1,500-meter run at the league championships, as he placed ninth with a time of 3:59.06.
Senior
Avery Boea-Gisler (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) finished third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.99 seconds. He made his college debut in the event this spring and received All-PSAC honors for the fifth time in his career.
The Vulcans finished seventh in the 4x400-meter relay while at Millersville, as Boea-Gisler, Bernarding, Cloud and Lytle registered a season-best time of 3:22.07.
Individually, Lytle scored in the finals of both the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash on Saturday. He placed fourth in the 100 meters with a time of 10.91 seconds and finished fifth in the 200 meters after posting a time of 22.11 seconds.
McPherson also scored in the 100 meters by finishing sixth overall with a time of 11.02 seconds. Senior
John Franklin, Jr. (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) tallied points in the 110-meter hurdles by establishing a season-best time of 15.22 seconds to place sixth in the finals.
Sophomore
Colin Finkbiner (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) scored in the pole vault at Millersville, tying for eighth overall with a personal-best height of 4.20 meters (13-9.25 feet). Junior
Ethan Moyer (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) set a personal record in the javelin throw and placed ninth in the event with a heave of 54.46 meters (178-8.0 feet). Classmate
Mason Jobe (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Salem) crossed the finish line in the 1,500 meters with a personal-best time of 4:00.09.
