MILLERSVILLE, Pa. (May 13) – The California University of Pennsylvania men's track & field team qualified seven entries for the finals at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships on Friday.  

Senior Jalen Cloud (Leechburg, Pa./Kiski) and freshman Logan Pfister (Fishertown, Pa./Chestnut Ridge) both earned All-PSAC honors in individual events on the second day of the league meet. Cloud placed third in the long jump with a distance of 6.96 meters (22-10.0 feet) on his third attempt. He received All-PSAC status in the event for the second time this year, as he also finished third in the long jump during the indoor campaign. Pfister ranked third in the high jump after clearing a height of 1.97 meters (6-5.5 feet) on his first attempt at the height. He captured the league title in the event during the indoor season this year.

The Vulcans advanced to the finals in the 4x100-meter relay, as junior Kristopher Lytle (Columbia, Md./Atholoton), freshman Aaron McPherson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Brentwood), junior Tyrese Canada (Richmond, Va./Henrico) and Cloud placed second with a season-best time of 41.37 seconds.

Individually, Lytle advanced to the conference finals in both the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash. He finished third in the preliminaries of the 100 meters with a time of 10.90 seconds. He also placed seventh in the 200 meters after crossing the finish line in 22.14 seconds.

Cal U ranks eighth in the team standings with 11.5 points after seven events at the conference meet. Shippensburg leads the league championships with 76 points, while Edinboro sits second with 40 points and East Stroudsburg ranks third with 39.5 points.

McPherson posted a time of 10.96 seconds in the 100 meters to advance to the finals in the event. Canada set a personal record during the preliminaries of the 100 meters with a time of 10.99 seconds.

Senior Avery Boea-Gisler (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) finished third in the preliminaries of the 400-meter hurdles by rounding the track in 55.00 seconds. He earned All-PSAC laurels last spring at the conference meet by placing third in the 400-meter dash.

In the 800-meter run, sophomore Noah Bernarding (Cochranton, Pa./Cochranton) qualified for the finals after posting a time of 1:54.77 to finish sixth overall. Junior Mason Jobe (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Salem) set a personal record in the event on Friday with a time of 1:56.91.

Senior John Franklin, Jr. (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) placed fifth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.36 seconds to advance to the conference finals in the event. Junior Michael Berdar (Centerville, Pa./Beth-Center) set a season-best mark in the high jump after clearing 1.87 meters (6-1.5 feet) on his third attempt.

The Vulcans return to action at the PSAC Championships tomorrow, Saturday, May 14, with events starting at 11 a.m.
