Duo competes in hammer at championships

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. (May 12) – California University of Pennsylvania seniors Matt Collins (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield) and Sam Rothstein (Sykesville, Md./Century) both competed in the hammer throw on Thursday to open the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships, which are being hosted by Millersville.

Collins narrowly missed scoring in the event, as he placed ninth overall in the hammer throw with a distance of 47.59 meters (156-1.0 feet) on his third attempt. Rothstein posted a mark of 39.48 meters (129-6.0 feet) on his second throw on Thursday.

The Vulcans return to action at the league championships tomorrow, Friday, May 13, with events starting at 10 a.m.
