INDIANA, Pa. (April 9) – Senior
Jalen Cloud (Leechburg, Pa./Kiski) improved his NCAA provisional mark in the triple jump on Saturday, as the Vulcans won six individual events at the Ed Fry Invitational hosted by IUP.
Cloud claimed the victory in the triple jump with a personal record of 14.85 meters (48-8.75 feet) on his second attempt. He ranks among the top 15 on the national performance list in the event this season. Cloud has reached the NCAA standard three times in the triple jump this spring.
Senior
Matt Collins (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield) won two individual events while reaching a pair of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying marks at IUP. He posted the victory and set a personal record in the hammer throw with a distance of 48.50 meters (159-1.0 feet) on his second attempt. Collins also won the discus throw with a mark of 43.87 meters (143-11.0 feet).
Freshman
Logan Pfister (Fishertown, Pa./Chestnut Ridge) improved his league-qualifying mark in the high jump on Saturday. He placed second in the event after clearing 1.95 meters (6-4.75 feet) on his first attempt at the height. Pfister ranks third on the league's performance list this spring after winning the indoor conference title in the event.
Senior
Avery Boea-Gisler (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) reached the conference standard while winning the 400-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in 57.06 seconds. Fellow senior
John Franklin, Jr. (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) also posted a league-qualifying mark at IUP by placing third in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.88 seconds.
Freshman
Ian Zimmerman (Bedford, Pa./Northern Bedford County) won the 1,500-meter run on Saturday with a time of 4 minutes, 5.76 seconds. Sophomore
Colin Finkbiner (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) claimed the victory in the pole vault by clearing 3.74 meters (12-3.25 feet) on his first attempt at the height.
Senior
Sam Rothstein (Sykesville, Md./Century) registered a pair of top-three finishes while at IUP. He placed second in the shot put with a mark of 12.97 meters (42-6.75 feet) and finished third in the hammer throw with a distance of 36.84 meters (120-10.0 feet). Rothstein also established a personal record in the discus throw with a heave of 30.44 meters (99-10.0 feet).
The Vulcans return to action at the Bison Outdoor Classic hosted by Bucknell on April 15-16 in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
