LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (April 4) – Following a standout two-way performance over the weekend, California University of Pennsylvania freshman Caleigh Rister (Bucyrus, Ohio/Bucyrus) was selected the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Athlete of the Week for the third time this season on Monday afternoon.

Rister reached base a combined six times and scored three runs on Saturday, as the Vulcans swept a home doubleheader against No. 24 Seton Hill to open divisional play. In Game 1, she reached base safely in all four plate appearances (two singles, walk, hit by pitch) and scored twice in a 6-1 win. Rister also earned the complete-game victory in the opening contest of the twinbill, allowing one run (earned) while scattering seven hits and three walks over 7.0 innings (98 pitches). The Ohio native later delivered an RBI double and drew a walk before later scoring in Game 2 versus the Griffins.

A 5-foot-4 freshman, Rister ranks third in the league with both a .521 on-base percentage and .810 slugging percentage this year while serving as the team's leadoff hitter. She also sits third in NCAA Division II with 1.32 runs per game. Rister holds a team-leading .431 average (25-for-58) with 15 extra-base hits, 20 RBI and 25 runs scored. Additionally, she holds a 7-2 record with a 1.03 ERA over 54.1 innings pitched this spring. Rister also ranks fifth in the PSAC with a 1.07 WHIP (walks and hits per inning pitched) while tossing four complete-game shutouts.

Rister is the first player to be chosen PSAC West Athlete of the Week three time in a season since former All-American Jillian Russell in the 2012 campaign.

The Vulcans are set to return to action on Friday, April 8, with a doubleheader against Gannon at Lilley Field, starting at 2:30 p.m.
