CALIFORNIA (April 17) – Senior first baseman
Makaylia Schlosser delivered a two-run, walk-off homer in Game 1, as the Vulcans earned a doubleheader sweep over Edinboro in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play at Lilley Field on Friday afternoon, claiming a 12-11 walk-off victory in Game 1 and a 5-3 win in Game 2.
NOTES
• California (14-22, 9-9) posted its third doubleheader sweep in league action this spring.
• The Vulcans recorded their third walk-off victory of the season, and their first walk-off homer since April 13, 2025.
• Sophomore third baseman
Makayla Jerin went a combined 5-for-7 in the doubleheader.
• Cal welcomed Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2026 inductees Lindsay Reicoff (2013-16) and Alex Sagl (2013-16) back to Lilley Field for a special First Pitch Ceremony on Friday. The former All-Americans will be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame tomorrow, Saturday, April 18, at the Convocation Center.
GAME 1
• The Vulcans scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth before the Fighting Scots countered with six runs in the sixth.
• Edinboro added a run in the seventh to take an 11-10 before Schlosser delivered the walk-off homer.
• Schlosser and senior shortstop
Jenna Hollerich both finished with two hits and three RBI.
• Sophomore second baseman
Amarah McCutcheon added three hits, while freshman left fielder
Indyana Bolyea collected two hits, two RBI and two runs scored.
• Freshman right fielder
Savanna Benish tallied two hits, one RBI and two runs scored, while Jerin and freshman designated player
Alexa Edmunds both registered two hits and one RBI.
• The Vulcans took a 3-0 lead in the second inning behind a two-run double by Hollerich before the score was tied 4-4 midway through the fifth.
• In the bottom of the inning, sophomore
Kirra Davis led off with a solo homer and Bolyea later delivered a two-run double with the bases loaded.
• Benish followed with an RBI double before another runs later scored on a ground-out and an RBI single by Schlosser, 10-4,
• The Fighting Scots countered with six runs on eight hits in the sixth to tie the game.
• Edinboro drew a leadoff walk in the seventh and the runner scored on a sacrifice fly.
• In the bottom of the inning, Hollerich reached on a single before Schlosser belted the walk-off homer on a 2-2 count.
• Freshman
Autumn Bielecki (7-6) earned the win behind a combined 3.2 innings after reentering the game in the seventh.
GAME 2
• The Vulcans completed the sweep behind a three-run homer by McCutcheon in the fourth inning.
• Jerin posted three hits and one RBI, while Schlosser finished with two hits, one RBI and one run scored.
• Davis added two hits and one run scored.
• Cal scored a run in each of the first two innings behind two-out RBI singles by Jerin and Schlosser.
• McCutheon broke a tie with a three-run homer in the bottom of the fourth, 5-2.
• Hollerich registered three-straight assists in the sixth, including a spectacular diving stop and throw from her knees.
• Edinboro cut the deficit to 5-3 in the seventh and stranded the game-tying run on first base.
• Bolyea (2-5) posted the complete-game victory after allowing three runs (two earned) on nine hits over 7.0 innings (94 pitches).
