SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. (April 2) – The California University of Pennsylvania men's track & field team reached six Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying standards while competing at the Dave Labor Invitational hosted by Slippery Rock on Saturday.
Sophomore
Noah Bernarding (Cochranton, Pa./Cochranton) posted multiple league-qualifying marks at the event. He set a personal record in the 1,500-meter run and qualified for the league championships after posting a time of 4 minutes, 0.85 seconds. Bernarding also placed third overall in the 800-meter run after crossing the finish line in 1:56.04.
Senior
Avery Boea-Gisler (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) won the 400-meter hurdles by over one-tenth of a second with a personal-best time of 54.89 seconds. He ranks second on the conference's performance list this spring in the event, plus has reached the league-qualifying standard in the triple jump.

Jalen Cloud (Leechburg, Pa./Kiski) and junior
Kristopher Lytle (Columbia, Md./Atholton) claimed the victory by over 4.5 seconds with a time of 3:24.88.
Senior
John Franklin, Jr. (Pittsburgh, Pa./KiskI) placed second in the 110-meter hurdles and improved his conference seed by six-hundredths of a second by posting a time of 15.84 seconds. Freshman
Ian Zimmerman (Bedford, Pa./Northern Bedford County) registered a time of 15:15.18 on Saturday to finish fifth overall in the 5,000-meter run.
Freshman
Logan Pfister (Fishertown, Pa./Chestnut Ridge) made his college debut in the long jump at Slippery Rock and qualified for the PSAC Championships with a top-10 mark of 6.64 meters (21-9.5 feet). Junior
Michael Berdar (Centerville, Pa./Beth-Center) narrowly missed the league standard in the event after registering a distance of 6.59 meters (21-7.5 feet).
Senior
Sam Rothstein (Sykesville, Md./Century) set a personal best in the discus throw on Saturday with a heave of 30.26 meters (99-3.0 feet).
The Vulcans return to action on Saturday, April 9, when they compete at the Ed Fry Invitational hosted by IUP.
