LEWISBURG, Pa. (April 16) – The California University of Pennsylvania men's track & field team reached nine league standards over the weekend while competing at the Bison Outdoor Classic hosted by Bucknell.
Sophomore
Noah Bernarding (Cochranton, Pa./Cochranton) established a pair of personal records and improved multiple conference-qualifying marks at Bucknell. He placed third overall in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 3 minutes, 54.91 seconds, which was nearly six seconds faster than his previous best. Bernarding also trimmed over 1.15 seconds off his qualifying time in the 800-meter run over the weekend while finishing with a time of 1:53.57.
Junior
Kristopher Lytle (Columbia, Md./Atholton) qualified for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships in both the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash over the weekend. He placed 10th overall in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.13 seconds and posted a wind-aided time of 11.01 seconds in the 100-meter dash.
Senior
Jalen Cloud (Leechburg, Pa./Kiski) recorded a pair of top-10 individual finishes while at Bucknell. He placed sixth overall in the triple jump with a distance of 14.66 meters (48-1.25 feet) on his third attempt. Cloud also set a season-best mark in the long jump after posting a distance of 6.96 meters (22-10.00 feet).
Fellow senior
John Franklin, Jr. (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) trimmed over five-tenths of a second off his qualifying time in the 110-meter hurdles over the weekend, as he posted a time of 15.29 seconds. Classmate
Avery Boea-Gisler (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) finished in eighth place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.02 seconds.
In the high jump, freshman
Logan Pfister (Fishertown, Pa./Chestnut Ridge) reached conference standard after clearing 1.94 meters (6-4.25 feet) on his third attempt.
The Vulcans return to action at the Mountaineer Showcase on April 22-23 in Morgantown, West Virginia.
