Mount Union Results
KENT, Ohio (Feb. 19) – In their final event before the conference championships, the Vulcans recorded nine league-qualifying marks on Saturday while competing at the Jud Logan Memorial Tune-Up hosted by Kent State.
Freshman
Logan Pfister (Fishertown, Pa./Chestnut Ridge) won the high jump after clearing 2.00 meters (6-6.75 feet) on his first attempt while in Ohio. He enters the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships with the top height in the league this winter.
Senior
Jalen Cloud (Leechburg, Pa./Kiski) and freshman
Aaron McPherson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Brentwood) both reached the league standard in the long jump on Friday. Cloud set a personal record and placed fourth in the long jump with a distance of 6.78 meters (22-3.0 feet), plus finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 14.08 meters (46-2.5 feet). A native of Pittsburgh, McPherson qualified for the PSAC Championships in the long jump with a mark of 6.68 seconds (21-11.00 feet).
Sophomore
Kristopher Lytle (Columbia, Pa./Atholton) posted multiple conference-qualifying times at the event. He placed seventh overall in the finals of the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.09 seconds and crossed the finish line in 22.62 seconds in the 200-meter dash.
The 4x400-meter relay of senior
Avery Boea-Gisler (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic), sophomore
Noah Bernarding (Cochranton, Pa./Cochranton), Cloud and Lyle finished in second place with a time of 3:23.65 seconds.
Individually, Bernarding reached the league standard and placed fifth overall in the one-mile run with a time of 1:57.01. Boea-Gisler rounded the track in sixth place in the 400-meter dash after crossing the finish line in 40.12 seconds.
Junior
Michael Berdar (Centerville, Pa./Beth-Center) cleared the PSAC-qualifying mark of 1.85 meters (6-0.75 feet) in the high jump at Kent State.
Additionally, senior
Matt Collins (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield) paced a group of entries at the Raider Tune-Up hosted by Mount Union on Saturday. He finished fifth in the weight throw with a heave of 13.61 meters (44-8.00 feet) on his fifth attempt.
Cal U returns to action at the PSAC Championships next weekend on Feb. 26-27 in Edinboro, Pennsylvania.
