YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (Jan. 29) – The California University of Pennsylvania men's track & field team reached eight Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying standards over the weekend while competing at the National Mid-Major Invitational hosted by Youngstown State.
Senior
Jalen Cloud (Leechburg, Pa./Kiski) posted a pair of league-qualifying marks while in Ohio. He finished third overall in the triple jump with a season-best distance of 14.04 meters (46-0.75 feet) on his third attempt. Cloud also reached the PSAC standard in the long jump by posting a mark of 6.63 meters (21-9.0 feet).
Freshman
Logan Pfister (Fishertown, Pa./Chestnut Ridge) placed second in the high jump at Youngstown State. He cleared a height of 2.00 meters (6-6.75 feet) on his third attempt at the mark to finish behind only an entry from the host Penguins. Pfister has finished among the top three in the high jump in all three invitationals this winter.
In the 800-meter run, sophomore
Noah Bernarding (Cochranton, Pa./Cochranton) qualified for the PSAC Championships for the first time this year after crossing the finish line in 1 minute, 57.58 seconds. Senior
Avery Boea-Gisler (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) set a season-best mark and reached the league standard in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.93 seconds.
Junior
Tymir Jackson (Philadelphia, Pa./Overbrook) registered a pair of conference-qualifying times over the weekend. He placed seventh overall in the 60-meter dash with a personal-record time of 7.08 seconds and posted a time of 22.68 seconds in the 200-meter dash.
Over the weekend, senior
John Franklin, Jr. (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) reached the league standard in the 60-mter hurdles with a time 8.74 seconds.
The Vulcans return to action at the Bob Shannon Invitational hosted by Denison in Granville, Ohio, on Feb. 5.
