Jackson receives weekly league honor

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Sept. 13) – Following a breakout performance over the weekend, California University of Pennsylvania sophomore wide receiver JaQuae Jackson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) was selected the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Offensive Athlete of the Week on Monday morning.

Jackson set career highs with 219 receiving yards, two touchdowns and eight catches on Saturday, as the Vulcans cruised to a 59-0 victory against Lock Haven in conference crossover play. He finished with the fifth-most single-game receiving yards in school history while becoming only the sixth different player to eclipse the 200-yard receiving mark in a game. Jackson made five receptions for 150 yards in just the first quarter on Saturday, highlighted by a 69-yard touchdown catch. The Pittsburgh native later added a 47-yard score in the final minute of the second quarter, as Cal U took a 45-0 lead at halftime.

A 6-foot-3 sophomore, Jackson entered the weekend with 208 receiving yards and two touchdowns on 15 catches in his career. He boasts the most receiving yards in a game this season in NCAA Division II, as four players have surpassed at least 200 yards this fall.

Jackson is the first Cal U wide receiver to earn the weekly league accolade since former All-American Garry Brown accomplished the feat in Week 9 of the 2016 season.

The Vulcans continue league crossover action on Saturday, Sept. 18, when they host Millersville at Adamson Stadium with kickoff at 1 p.m.
