Cal U places 10 on PSAC's 150 Contributors

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Aug. 5) – In recognition of College Football's sesquicentennial season, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) recognized a group of individuals who were distinguished as The PSAC's 150 Contributors on Monday afternoon as part of the league's Media Day.

With various league and on-campus celebrations planned for the upcoming season, nominees were comprised of representatives from each current member institution. Those in consideration were identified by each institution as individuals who had made significant contributions to college football.

To determine the formation of the final 150, guidelines were put in place to have representation from each submitting institution. A committee comprised of seven former Sports Information Directors then made selections to finalize the PSAC's 150 Contributors.

The individuals below, listed alphabetically, are the honorees from Cal U for their contributions to the 150 years of college football.

Antoine Bagwell, Running Back, 2004-05
Bagwell was one of the most explosive players in school and league history. He was selected the PSAC West Offensive Player of the Year in each of his two seasons and finished among the top five in the country both years in rushing yards and all-purpose yards. A two-time Harlon Hill Trophy regional finalist, Bagwell ranks second all-time in school history in rushing yards and still holds the PSAC all-time mark of 7.8 rushing yards per attempt.

Garry Brown, Wide Receiver, 2013-16
Brown was a dynamic offensive player who shattered the school's all-time receiving records. He was a consensus First-Team All-American and a Harlon Hill Trophy national finalist as a senior. Brown ranks fifth all-time in league history in receiving yards behind three-straight 1,000-yard seasons. As a senior, he was selected PSAC West Offensive Player of the Year after finishing among the top five in the country in receiving yards, receiving touchdowns and scoring.

Wes Cates, Running Back, 1998-01
Cates remains one of the most prolific running backs in league history. He holds the all-time school record for attempts, yards and touchdowns, all of which are third-most in PSAC history. Cates, who also holds multiple single-game and single-season school records, is the only player in school history to record three 1,000-yard rushing seasons after no player reached the mark for nearly 50 years. He later played six seasons in the CFL, winning the 2007 Grey Cup with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Perry Kemp, Wide Receiver, 1980-83
Kemp was one of the most prolific wide receivers in school and league history until recent years. He held the single-season and career school records for receptions and receiving yards for over two decades. A three-time All-PSAC West selection, Kemp was an AFCA First-Team All-American as a senior when he posted the first 1,000-yard receiving campaign in program history. Following his time at Cal U, he played professionally in both the USFL and NFL, including four seasons with the Green Bay Packers.

John Luckhardt, Head Coach, 2002-11
Luckhardt ranks as the program's all-time wins leader with 88 victories while boasting a .727 winning percentage. He guided the program to an unprecedented five-consecutive years with at least 10 victories with back-to-back-to-back NCAA Regional Championships from 2007-09. Luckhardt led the Vulcans to at least a share of a PSAC West title in seven-straight seasons behind a 42-4 combined mark in divisional play during that span. In 2007, Cal U registered an undefeated regular season before finishing the year with a school-record 13 victories.

Sam Mannery, Quarterback, 1987-90
Mannery remains the most prolific quarterback in program history, as he was the first four-year starting quarterback in program history. He became the first player in PSAC history to eclipse 9,000 yards of total offense in a career and still holds all-time school records for passing yards, total offense, attempts and completions. Mannery was a three-time All-PSAC West First-Team selection and the PSAC West Offensive Athlete of the Year as a senior.

Tim McCutcheon, Offensive Line, 2004-07
McCutcheon is one of the most decorated and versatile offensive linemen in school history. He was named an All-American by the AFCA, AP and D2Football.com as both a junior and senior, while also being a national finalist for the Gene Upshaw Award both seasons. McCutcheon received All-PSAC West First-Team status in each of his four years while starting at left tackle (freshman/senior), left guard (sophomore) and center (junior).

Rontez Miles, Defensive Back, 2009-12
Miles was one of the most decorated and dynamic defensive players in school history. He was named an AFCA and AP First-Team All-American as both a junior and senior, in addition to being chosen the PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Year in both seasons. A four-time All-PSAC West honoree, Miles holds the school record for most career tackles by a defensive back. He is currently entering his seventh season in the NFL, all with the New York Jets.

Elmo Natali, Running Back/Coach/Administrator, 1950-53, 1962-66, 1967-92
Natali achieved one of the most remarkable careers at Cal U, as his service with the institution spanned over 50 years. He set a school record with the first 1,000-yard rushing season in 1951 and the Vulcans made their first-ever post-season appearance in the Pythian Bowl. Natali was later an assistant coach with the program before serving as a volunteer head coach from 1973-76. He then was appointed vice president for student development and eventually retired in 1992. Natali, the namesake of the university's student center, passed away earlier this year.

Jeff Petrucci, Quarterback/Head Coach, 1966-68, 1981-92
Petrucci is the only individual in program history to win at least a share of a PSAC Championship as both a player and head coach. He was a prolific quarterback for the Vulcans and led the NAIA in total offense as both a junior and senior. In 1968, Petrucci was the starting quarterback when Cal U tied East Stroudsburg in the State Game. He returned to the institution as head coach and guided the program to 54 wins, which was tied for the most in school history for nearly two decades. Petrucci directed the Vulcans to its first outright PSAC Championship in 1984 and the team finished with its most wins in over 25 years.
