Cal U drops home match to Slippery Rock, 9-0

CALIFORNIA (April 14) – The California University of Pennsylvania tennis team dropped a 9-0 match to Slippery Rock in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action on Saturday afternoon at Roadman Park.
 
With the loss, the Vulcans fall to 0-5 overall with each match being against divisional opponents. Meanwhile, The Rock moves to 11-11 overall with a 4-2 mark in league play.

Slippery Rock swept doubles play on Saturday following a forfeit at the third slot. Junior Elizabeth Wohar (California, Pa./California) and sophomore Charlie Gallagher (Kennett Square, Pa./Octorara) dropped an 8-0 match to Lacey Cohen and Carla Corrochano at the first position. Freshman Emilee Leydig (Windber, Pa./Windber) and freshman Alexa Uhlyar (Finleyville, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) suffered an 8-0 loss at second doubles to Viola Lugmayr and Olivia Warner.
 
In singles competition, Cohen defeated Wohar by a 6-0, 6-0 count at the first position and Gallagher was downed by Corrochano at the second slot by a 6-0, 6-0 margin. At the third slot, Leydig dropped a 6-0, 6-1 match to Lugmayr and Uhylar suffered a 6-0, 6-0 loss at the fourth position to Warner.
 
The Vulcans return to action on Monday, April 16, when they close PSAC West play by hosting Clarion at 2 p.m.
