Glenville State Statistics
CALIFORNIA (March 12) – The California University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team will face Glenville State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament and will host four first-round games at Hamer Hall on Friday, March 10.

Cal U is selling day-only tickets for the NCAA Tournament at the cost of $10 for adults and $5 for students.

STORYLINES
• Last time out: Cal U suffered an 84-79 loss to IUP in the PSAC Championship while battling through multiple injuries and foul trouble on Sunday.
• The Vulcans enter play having won 17 of their last 19 games, which featured a 14-game winning streak from Jan. 3-Feb. 20.
• Cal U is making its 14th NCAA Tournament appearance in the last 16 years and holds an all-time record of 29-12 in the NCAA Tournament
ABOUT THE VULCANS
• In her sixth season as head coach,
Jess Strom enters with a 139-38 career record, including a 95-27 mark in PSAC play and a 9-2 record in the NCAA Tournament.

Seairra Barrett scored a combined 54 points on 20-of-28 shooting in the last two rounds of the PSAC Tournament.
• The Vulcans lead the PSAC in scoring offense (80.6) and lead the nation in turnover margin (12.3). Cal U also ranks second in the country in steals per game (14.7).
ABOUT THE PIONEERS
• In her first season as head coach, Kim Stephens has posted a 24-5 record while leading Glenville State to the MEC regular-season title.
• The Pioneers boast the second-highest scoring offense in the country (94.4) and lead the nation in three-pointers per game (14.5).
• Glenville State shot just 5-of-38 (13.2 percent) from beyond the arc in the quarterfinals of the MEC Tournament when it was eliminated by Charleston.
ABOUT THE SERIES
• Cal U has won three of four meetings against Glenville State since the 2002-03 season with all three wins coming in the NCAA Tournament.
• This marks the fifth all-time meeting between the Vulcans and Pioneers in the NCAA Tournament and the first meeting in the opening round.
WELCOME BACK
Since the opening of the Convocation Center in 2012, the Vulcans have played a total of 12 games in their old facility - Hamer Hall. In those games, Cal U holds an 11-1 overall record, including a 7-0 mark in the post-season. Four of those games came in 2015 en route to capturing the PSAC and Atlantic Region Championships.
MARCH MADNESS
Cal U enters the NCAA Tournament for the 15th time in program history and for the sixth time in the last seven seasons. The Vulcans hold a 29-12 record in the tournament, winning at least one game in their last seven appearances. Since 2008, the Vulcans own a 14-4 mark in the Atlantic regional tournament with three regional titles.
HIGH-OCTANE OFFENSES
Glenville State and Cal U both rank among the top 10 in the country in scoring offense this season. The Pioneers sit second in the nation with 94.4 points per game and has scored over 100 points 11 times season, including a school-record 138 points versus West Virginia State. Glenville State leads NCAA Division II this year with both 421 three-points made and 1,333 three-point attempts.
MEC IN NCAA
Cal U holds a 10-4 all-time record in the NCAA Tournament against current MEC members. The Vulcans have faced at least one MEC opponent in each of their last five appearances in the tournament. Cal U has faced both Charleston and Glenville State four times in the NCAA Tournament while playing West Liberty in each of the last two years in the tournament.
WHAT A STEAL
The Pioneers and Vulcans each rank in the top five in NCAA Division II in steals per game. Cal U sits second in the country with 14.7 steals per game and Glenville State ranks third with 14.5 steals per game. GSU junior

FAMILIAR PLACE
Cal U head coach
Jess Strom is making her ninth appearance in the NCAA Tournament in her 11 years with the program, including her fourth as a head coach. She has posted a 9-2 mark in the tournament while head coach of the Vulcans, highlighted by the 2015 NCAA National Championship. Strom was an assistant coach at Cal U from 2007-11 and helped the program advance to the Elite Eight in 2008 and 2009.
BEAR-DOWN
Junior
Seairra Barrett scored a combined 53 points over the weekend during the semifinal and championship of the PSAC Tournament. An All-PSAC West First-Team selection, she shot a combined 20-of-28 from the floor and 14-of-18 from the free-throw line while playing over 30 minutes in each game. Barrett has scored least 20 points in six of the last 15 games dating back to Jan. 14.
FAMILY TIES
In her first year at Glenville State, head coach
Kim Stephens has led the program to its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2014. She spent the past three seasons as an assistant coach at Sacramento State, where former Cal U men's basketball coach Bill Brown served as head coach in the mid-1980s. Stephens, who played at Glenville State from 2007-11, is joined on the bench by her father,
Scott, who serves as an assistant coach after spending 16 years as head coach at Parkersburg South H.S.
