(March 28) – Seniors Veronika Mikulis (Otterburn Park, Quebec/Heritage Regional) and Alyssa Savill (Holbrook, Australia/Billabong) both registered a pair of wins on Tuesday afternoon, as the Vulcans dropped a 6-3 match to Edinboro in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action at Westwood Racquet Club.
With the loss, the California University of Pennsylvania tennis team falls to 2-5 overall while playing four matches in the span of a week. Meanwhile, Edinboro improves to 7-2 this season after winning its third-straight match.
The Fighting Scots took a 2-1 match lead following doubles play on Tuesday. Mikulis and Savill collected an 8-3 victory at the first position against junior Roxana Yeh and sophomore Laura Lopez. At second doubles, redshirt sophomore

Elizabeth Wohar (California, Pa./California) suffered an 8-3 loss to junior Julia Hellstern and sophomore Tatiana Batalla Trabal. Sophomore

Charlie Gallagher (Kennett Square, Pa./Octorara) dropped an 8-0 contest at third doubles against senior Anastasiya Dasik and sophomore Jelena Vucenovic.
Edinboro sealed the match victory by winning four of the six matches in the singles session. Mikulis earned a 6-4, 6-4 win at the first slot against Lopez, while Savill extended her winning streak to five matches following a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Hellstern at the second position. Olson suffered a 6-1, 6-3 loss at third singles to Batalla Trabal, while Wohar was dealt a 6-0, 6-2 loss by Yeh at the fourth slot. Suckling was forced to retire in the second set of her match against Dasik at the fifth position and Gallagher dropped a 6-1, 6-0 match at sixth singles to Vucenovic.
The Vulcans return to action on Saturday, April 1, when they travel to face Clarion in PSAC West play at 1 p.m.
