Box ScoreCALIFORNIA (March 31) – Playing its third match in three days, the No. 12 California University of Pennsylvania tennis team opened Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play with an 8-1 win over Seton Hill on Tuesday afternoon.
With the victory, the Vulcans improve to 5-2 overall after extending their winning streak to four matches. Meanwhile, the Griffins, who are the slotted No. 10 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Atlantic regional rankings, fall to 8-6 this season with a 1-2 mark in league action.

Jesse Burrell (Perth, Australia/Presbyterian Ladies' College) and sophomore
Kiefer Shaw (Westmount, Quebec/Centennial) earned their team-leading 12th victory this season following an 8-4 win against Megan Hudak and Paula Carvajalino. Senior
Ramona Czakon (Trier, Germany/Tampereen Lyseon Lukio) and sophomore
Mariela Sarinana (Mexico City, Mexico/Miraflores) collected an 8-6 victory at second doubles over Sara Ruiz and Isidora Knezevic, while freshman
Lena Dimmer (Wallendorf-Pont, Luxembourg/Lycée Classique) and sophomore
Veronika Mikulis (Otterburn Park, Quebec/Heritage Regional), who were playing their first match as a doubles team, posted an 8-1 win against Chelsea Pence and Alisha Torretti at the third slot.
The Vulcans captured five of the six singles matches against the Griffins with all six matches being decided in straight sets. Shaw, who wasn't in yesterday's singles lineup, registered a 6-2, 6-0 victory at first singles against Hudak, while Czakon tallied a 7-5, 6-1 win over Ruiz at the second slot. Seton Hill earned its lone win of the match at the third position, as Knezevic earned a 6-0, 6-5 victory against freshman
Alice Johns (Northampton, England/Northampton).
Sarinana posted a 6-1, 6-2 win at fourth singles against Carvajalino, while freshman
Katie Olson (Laguna Niguel, Calif./Dana Hills) claimed a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the fifth position. Burrell closed play against Seton Hill by blanking Torretti at the sixth slot by a 6-0, 6-0 count.
Cal U continues PSAC West play tomorrow, Wednesday, April 1, when it travels to face Edinboro at 3 p.m.
