MAHADY MILESTONE: Senior Emma Mahady became the first Cal U player under head coach Jess Strom to score 1,000 career points when she scored a career-high 26 points in an overtime win over nationally-ranked IUP on Jan. 10. Mahady currently ranks 14th in school history with 1,154 career points.

SCORING AND STEALING: Sophomore Miki Glenn currently leads the Vulcans in both scoring and steals and ranks among the top 10 in the PSAC in both categories. She sits sixth in the league with 15.1 points/game and leads the PSAC with 2.85 steals/game. The West Virginia native looks to become the first player to lead the team in both scoring and steals since Kayla Smith during the 2010-11 season.

IRON VULCANS: The starting lineup of Glenn, Mahady, senior Kaitlynn Fratz, junior Lana Doran and Irina Kukolj have provided remarkable durability, as the quintet has started together in 26 of 27 games this season. The lone starting lineup change occurred on Feb. 18 when Kukolj did not play due to illness. In comparison, a total of 10 different players started at least one game last season.

HAMER HALL RARITY: Because of a previously scheduled event, the quarterfinals of the PSAC Tournament will be played at Hamer Hall. Since the Convocation Center opened, the Vulcans have played four games in Hamer Hall. The last time the Cal U womenís basketball team played at Hamer Hall was on Dec. 18, 2012 when the Vulcans recorded a 96-49 win over Mansfield. Cal U last played a post-season game in Hamer Hall during the 2010 PSAC Tournament, posting a 72-49 victory over IUP in the quarterfinals.

STROM IN THE POSTSEASON: In her fourth year as head coach, Jess Strom has guided the Vulcans to a 77-29 record and a berth in their 22nd appearance in the PSAC Tournament, including the programís 15th-straight appearance. Strom holds a 2-3 record in the PSAC Tournament, including an 0-2 mark against Gannon. Strom led Cal U to the NCAA Tournament in 2013 before losing in the regional championship versus the Lady Knights.

TOP FROSH: Freshman Seairra Barrett enters the PSAC Tournament as perhaps the leading candidate for PSAC West Freshman of the Year. She is averaging 7.7 points and 5.4 rebounds/game while shooting at a .534 clip. Barrett was named PSAC West Freshman of the Week seven times during the regular season, including a stretch of four-straight times in January. She tallied her first career double-double in the final game of the regular season on Feb. 25, scoring a career-high 17 points and collecting 12 rebounds. Barrett has scored in double-digits 13 times this season and is averaging 11.5 points/game against Gannon this season while shooting a sizzling 62.5 percent from the floor.

AROUND THE STATE: All four of the higher seeds won their first-round games on Saturday. Each of the four quarterfinal games are being played on Tuesday, March 3, and the highest remaining seed from the PSAC East will host the semifinals and finals on March 7-8. The PSAC Championship on Sunday will broadcast live across the state on PCN with the game scheduled for 1 p.m. The winner of the league tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament with the entire field being revealed late Sunday night via a webstream on NCAA.com.

FIRST TICKET PUNCHED: Virginia State earned its first CIAA Championship since 2002 over the weekend with a 73-49 victory over Lincoln. With the win, the Trojans received the automatic qualifier from the CIAA into the NCAA Tournament.
