CLIMBING HIGH
The Vulcans moved up four spots to No. 14 in the latest USA Today Sports Top 25 Coaches Poll, which was released on Tuesday afternoon. Cal U will enter the NCAA Tournament with its highest national ranking since the 2008-09 season when the Vulcans reached No. 2 in the country twice and advanced to the Elite Eight for the second-straight year.

NCAA TOURNAMENT HISTORY
Cal U is appearing in its 13th NCAA Tournament and boasts a 22-11 record in NCAA post-season play. Of the 64 teams in this year's tournament field, Cal U (2004) is one of  just six teams to have previously won the national championship. Cal Poly Pomona is the only one of the six teams with a national title to win multiple championships, as the Broncos have won five national championships.

DYNAMIC DUO GUIDES VULCANS
Sophomore Miki Glenn was named the PSAC Championships MVP after scoring a career-high 30 points on 10-of-18 shooting and made 16-of-17 attempts (both career highs) from the free-throw line in the finals of the league tournament. The West Virginia native averaged 23.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists over the last two games of the PSAC Tournament. Senior Kaitlynn Fratz became the first Vulcan to score 30 or more points in a post-season game since 2010 with 32 points in the semifinals win at Bloomsburg. The Maryland native is averaging 22.0 points and 7.0 rebounds while shooting at a .404 clip (21-of-52) from the floor in the post-season.

GETTING DEFENSIVE
Cal U has relied on its defense all season. The Vulcans rank second in the country in turnover margin at +8.70 turnovers per game and are less than a half turnover per game behind the national leader. Cal U also ranks among the nation's leaders in steals, averaging 12.4 steals per game, which is sixth-most in the country. The Vulcans have four players who average at least 1.7 steals per game. Glenn ranks in the top 20 in the nation at 2.8 steals/game, while senior Emma Mahady averages 2.3 steals/game and ranks third in the PSAC. Fratz (1.9 steals/game) and junior Lana Doran (1.7 steals/game) each rank in the top 20 in the league. The Vulcans have totaled 10 or more steals in 20 of 30 games this season.

HAMER HALL IN THE NCAA PLAYOFFS
Cal U is playing in its 12th NCAA Tournament game at Hamer Hall since 2002. The Vulcans last hosted a game at Hamer Hall in the NCAA Tournament on March 13, 2010 when they fell 74-63 to Millersville in the second round. Since 2002, Cal U holds a  mark of 10-1 inside Hamer Hall during the NCAA Tournament and have won by an average of 18.7 points per game.

CAL U VS. ATLANTIC REGIONAL TEAMS
Of the seven teams traveling to California for this weekend's  NCAA Atlantic Regional Tournament, the Vulcans have played all but one team this season. Cal U boasts an overall record of 7-3 against IUP (2-0), Bloomsburg (1-1), West Chester (1-0), West Liberty (1-0), Gannon (1-2) and Shepherd (1-0). The only team that the Vulcans have not played this year is Virginia State, their first-round opponent.

STROM IN THE POSTSEASON
In her fourth year as head coach, Jess Strom has guided the Vulcans to an 80-29 record and a berth in their 13th appearance in the NCAA Tournament, including the program's first appearance since 2013. Strom holds a 2-1 record in the NCAA Tournament and faces Virginia State for the first time in her career in the post-season. Strom led Cal U to an appearance in the Atlantic Regional Championship in 2013 when the Vulcans lost by just three points to host Gannon.
