SOUTH PARK, Pa. (March 28) – The No. 12 California University of Pennsylvania tennis team claimed a 9-0 win at Glen Creek Tennis Club against Clarion on Friday afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action.
With the victory, the Vulcans improve to 4-2 overall with a 2-0 mark in league play. Meanwhile, the Golden Eagles suffered their seventh loss in their last eight matches to fall to 3-9 this season and 0-2 in divisional action.
Cal U opened play in dominating fashion, as it won all three doubles matches by an 8-0 count. At the first slot, the No. 11 tandem of senior

The Vulcans continued their impressive play in singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets for the second-straight match. The No. 5 singles player in the country, Sipkova blanked Zezenski at the first slot by a 6-0, 6-0 count and No. 38 Czakon dealt Bettwy a 6-0, 6-1 defeat at the second position. Rey posted a 6-1, 6-0 win at third singles against Robinson and freshman
Kiefer Shaw (Westmount, Quebec/Centennial) tallied a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Kennelly at the fourth slot. Freshman
Veronika Mikulis (Otterburn Park, Quebec/Heritage Regional) recorded her 10th singles win of the year, downing Dgien at the fifth position by a 6-0, 6-0 count. Sarinana added a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Probst at sixth singles.
Cal U continues divisional play tomorrow, Saturday, March 29, when it travels to Erie, Pa., to face Mercyhurst at Westwood Racquet Club, starting at 1 p.m.
