CAL U STORYLINES
• The Vulcans clinched a berth in the PSAC Tournament with wins over Pitt-Johnstown and Seton Hill in the final two games of the regular season. Without the comeback victory over Seton Hill, UPJ would have earned the final berth in the league tournament.
• Although UPJ and Cal U had similar records, the Vulcans owned the tiebreaker with their win over top-seeded Gannon on Jan. 29, while the Mountain Cats were 0-2 versus the Golden Knights.
• Junior
Arman Marks is averaging 9.2 points per game when he is in the starting lineup. He scored 19 points on Wednesday off the bench, where he is posting 12.5 points per game.
• Cal U averages 11.9 turnovers per game this season, the fewest in the PSAC.
• Junior
Alonzo Murphy has recorded three double-doubles this season and the Vulcans have won each time.
• The Vulcans are seeking their first PSAC Tournament victory since 2008. Cal U has lost its last three games in the league tournament.
THE OPPONENT
• Mercyhurst has lost two of its last three games, including a 73-71 loss to Pitt-Johnstown on Wednesday.
• The Lakers were 8-4 at home this season, but have lost two of their last three games at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center.
• Each of Mercyhurst's last 10 games have been decided by 10 points or fewer, including four games decided by two points. The Lakers are 7-3 in those games.
• The Lakers rank last in the PSAC in scoring offense at 62.8 points per game and have only one player averaging double-figures.
SERIES HISTORY
• Mercyhurst has won nine of the 12 meetings against Cal U since the Lakers joined the PSAC in the 2008-09 season.
• This is the first meeting in the PSAC Tournament between the two schools.
• The only time the Vulcans won at the MAC since the Lakers joined the PSAC was a 61-56 victory on Feb. 18, 2012.
• The Lakers won both meeting during the regular season. Cal U nearly erased a 16-point deficit before falling 64-51 at Mercyhurst on Dec. 4. The Lakers completed the regular-season with a 63-56 win in early February at the Convocation Center.
