Tony Richardson (Sterling, Va./Dominion) was recently tabbed the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Freshman of the Week.
Richardson averaged 9.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, as the Vulcans split a pair of games at the tip-off event hosted by IUP. He shot a combined 7-of-10 from the floor while playing nearly 50 minutes over the weekend.
A native of Virginia, Richardson posted five points and seven rebounds in his college debut on Friday against Johnson C. Smith. He earned the start the following day and registered 14 points on six-of-nine shooting against Urbana. The 6-foot-8 forward added seven rebounds and three assists while playing 30 minutes.
Richardson is the first Cal U rookie to be selected the initial PSAC West Freshman of the Week since the 2011-12 campaign.
The Vulcans return to the court on Wednesday, Nov. 19, when they begin PSAC West play by hosting Mercyhurst at 7:30 p.m.
