CALIFORNIA (Dec. 7) – Behind five players scoring in double-digits, the Vulcans snapped a four-game losing streak on Saturday evening with a 70-65 victory over Edinboro in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action at the Convocation Center.
With the win, the California University of Pennsylvania men's basketball team improves to 2-6 overall with a 1-3 mark in league play. Meanwhile, Edinboro falls to 4-3 this season and remains winless in conference action at 0-3 under first-year head coach Pat Cleary.
Junior
Tynell Fortune (Harlem, N.Y./Pocono Mountain West (Pa.)) led the team in scoring with 17 points after shooting 5-of-13 from the field and 7-of-11 from the free-throw line. He has now scored in double-digits in four-straight games and leads the team with 12.9 points per game.

Arman Marks (Louisville, Ky./Eastern) and senior
Chris Williams (Philadelphia, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) both finished with 11 points and Williams added team highs of nine rebounds (seven offensive) and three assists. Sophomore

Alonzo Murphy (Pittsburgh, Pa./Imani Christian Academy) rounded out the Vulcans in double-figures on Saturday with 10 points each.
The Vulcans opened the game on a 10-4 run after the Fighting Scots made just one of their first eight shot attempts. Edinboro countered with a 10-5 rally over the next four-plus minutes to tie the game at 15-15 with 7:33 left before halftime. The Vulcans then responded with an 11-2 run to reclaim the lead at 26-17 with 3:18 remaining before the break. Edinboro closed the first half on a 7-2 rally after limiting Cal U to only one field-goal in the last four-plus minutes.
Cal U maintained a lead of no more than two possessions for the majority of the second half before posting an 8-2 run to take a 61-51 lead with 2:32 left to play. The Fighting Scots trimmed the deficit to 63-58 before the Vulcans sealed the victory with five free-throws and a dunk by Murphy in the final minute.
The Vulcans shot 50 percent in the second half before finishing the game making 40.0 percent (24-of-60) from the field and 58.6 percent (17-of-29) from the free-throw line. In comparison, the Fighting Scots shot at a 52.8 clip (19-of-36) from the floor and 76.7 percent (23-of-30) from the charity stripe. Cal U out-rebounded Edinboro by a 37-27 margin behind a season-high 24 offensive rebounds.
Edinboro senior Bryan Theriot led all players with 22 points after making all six shots from the floor and all 10 free-throw attempts. Junior transfer Jonny Marsh added 21 points and four assists while playing all 40 minutes.
Cal U is idle next week before returning to action on Dec. 17 when it hosts West Chester at 7:30 p.m.
