SOUTH PARK, Pa. (March 30) – The No. 8 California University of Pennsylvania tennis team extended its winning streak to four matches with a 9-0 victory against Clarion in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action on Friday afternoon at the Glen Creek Tennis Club.
With the win, the Vulcans improve to 14-5 overall with a 2-0 mark in league play. Meanwhile, the Golden Eagles fall to 6-5 this season with a 0-2 record in divisional action.

Franziska Steinhardt (Bad Lausick, Germany/St. Augustin Gymnasium) and
Anastassiya Zherdeva (Almaty, Kazakhstan/Gumnasia Number 60) recorded an 8-0 shutout over Megan Bettwy and Lauren Rhine at the second slot. Freshmen
Jolien Borrenberghs (Hasselt, Belgium/KA2 Sportschool) and
Jesse Burrell (Perth, Australia/Presbyterian Ladies' College) claimed an 8-2 win at third doubles over Michaela Hardy and Madeline Robinson.
Due to time restraints at the indoor facility, singles were played as 10-point pro sets. Pieschl posted a 10-1 victory against Metzger at the first slot, while Pondicas collected a 10-0 win over Bettwy at the second position. Zherdeva earned a 10-1 victory against Robinson at third singles and Steinhardt recorded a 10-0 shutout at the fourth slot over Rhine. At the fifth position, Burrell posted a 10-2 win against Clarion's Brittany Buchheit and Borrenberghs tallied a 10-1 victory against Hardy at sixth singles.
The Vulcans continue PSAC West play on Sunday, April 1, when they travel to face No. 41 IUP at 3:30 p.m.
