Volleyball sweeps Slippery Rock, 3-0

CALIFORNIA, Pa. (Oct. 13) – Senior Brandy Harris (Bedford, Pa./Bedford) posted her sixth double-double of the season on Saturday afternoon, as the California University of Pennsylvania volleyball team recorded a 3-0 victory (25-13, 25-13, 25-16) against Slippery Rock in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play.

With the win, the Vulcans improve to 20-4 overall with a 9-2 mark in conference play. Meanwhile, The Rock falls to 13-10 on the season and 6-5 in conference play.

Harris led the team with 16 kills on a .571 hitting percentage and added 12 digs, as she collected her 17th career double-double. Fellow senior Kelly Fromknecht (Erie, Pa./McDowell) posted a team-high 18 assists and collected eight digs and three blocks in the sweep. Junior Abbey Freund (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) tallied 17 assists and seven digs against Slippery Rock.

Sophomore Laurel Miller (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) and senior Meghan Franz (Cranberry Twp., Pa./Seneca Valley) both finished with six blocks.

Cal U returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 16, hosting IUP at 7 p.m.
