CALIFORNIA (Sept. 14) – The California University of Pennsylvania volleyball team claimed a 3-0 sweep (25-21, 25-19, 25-19) over Point Park in its home debut on Wednesday night at Hamer Hall
With the win, the Vulcans improve to 7-2 this season under first-year head coach
Peter Letourneau. Dating back to the start of the start of the 2006 season, Cal U has posted an astounding 60-4 record at Hamer Hall. Meanwhile, the Pioneers drop to 13-2 overall after having their nine-match winning streak snapped on Wednesday.

Brandy Harris (Bedford, Pa./Bedford) led the team with 11 kills and classmates
Bridget Bielich (Bethel Park, Pa. Bethel Park) and
Meghan Franz (Cranberry Twp., Pa./Seneca Valley) combined for 11 kills against Point Park. Junior setter
Kelly Fromknecht (Erie, Pa./McDowell) finished with 18 assists, three service aces and five blocks (one solo) and sophomore
Abbey Freund (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) collected seven assists in the victory.
Defensively, senior libero
Sara McMullen (State College, Pa./State College) paced the Vulcans with 13 digs and also registered three service aces. Harris tallied seven digs and freshman
Tabitha Maurer (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) finished with six digs on Wednesday evening.
Cal U returns to action this weekend when it hosts a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Crossover against Cheyney, Kutztown, Slippery Rock and West Chester at Hamer Hall on Sept. 16-17.
