WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 4) – In a match-up of two Top 15 teams, the No. 8 California University of Pennsylvania tennis team suffered a 7-2 loss to No. 11 Rollins College (Fla.) on Wednesday.
With the loss, the Vulcans fall to 9-2 overall this season after playing three nationally-ranked in one week. Earlier in the day, Cal U moved up one place in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national rankings, while Rollins climbed up four places in the rankings.

Alina Stanila (Alexandria, Romania/Technical) earned a 9-7 victory at No. 1 doubles against sophomore Margaret Junker and freshman Kayli Ragsdale, who finished the fall season as the No. 15-ranked doubles team in the country. At No. 3 doubles, sophomore

Mariana Oliveira (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Martha Falcao) were edged by freshmen Stefaniya Tkach and Allie Steele, 9-7.
VanEysendeyk was the lone Vulcan to earn a win in singles play, topping sophomore Roshni Luthra in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1. Stanila forced freshman Holly Fleming to a third-tiebreaker before losing 7-5, 2-6, 10-6.
Cal U is idle for the next week before returning to action on Saturday, March 14, in Greencastle, Ind., with matches against No. 23 Grand Valley State (Mich.) and DePauw University (Ind.), the No. 16 team in Division III.
