YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (Feb. 11) – The No. 9 California University of Pennsylvania tennis team won the top three-seeded singles matches, but Youngstown State University outlasted the Vulcans by a 4-3 count on Wednesday at the Boardman Tennis Center.
The Vulcans fall to 5-1 in dual matches this season, while the Division I Penguins improve to 2-4.

Alina Stanila (Alexandria, Romania/Technical) registered the only Cal U victory in doubles play, collecting an 8-2 victory over juniors Nicole Haralambopoulos and Anna Volkova at the first slot.
After losing the first set, VanEysendeyk rallied to beat freshman Sarah Lynch in three sets, 5-7, 6-2, 7-5, at No. 1 singles. Stanila added a 6-1, 7-6 win over YSU freshman Lauren Hankle at the second spot, while sophomore
Nina Kowalski (Hofheim, Germany/Man Taunus) battled Volkova to 4-6, 6-4, 10-8 victory at the No. 3 singles.
Cal U is idle over the weekend before returning to action with a road match next Saturday, Feb. 21, against West Virginia State University.
