CALIFORNIA (Oct. 31) – Behind 19 kills by senior outside hitter
Joanna Nist (Rockwood, Pa./Rockwood) and 10 kills from sophomore middle hitter
Bridget Bielich (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park), the California University of Pennsylvania volleyball team increased its lead in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West standings with a 3-1 league win (23-25, 25-12, 25-12, 25-18) over Clarion on Saturday.
With the win, the Vulcans now have a three-game lead in the standings with a perfect 17-0 mark in conference play and a 24-7 overall record. Meanwhile, the Golden Eagles drop to 24-7 overall and 14-3 in league action. Both teams have already clinched berths to the PSAC Tournament, which will be hosted at Lock Haven
Nist posted her 17th kill/dig double-double of the season against Clarion, finishing 19 kills on .517 hitting and 10 digs. Bielich and senior middle hitter
Ludmila Amaral (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Afonso Schimidt) added 10 and nine kills, respectively. Amaral also registered four blocks in the win.

Julie Paronish (Hastings, Pa./Northern Cambria) collected 14 digs, while senior setter
Renata da Silva (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Ateneu) also recorded a double-double against the Golden Eagles. da Silva directed the offense with 49 assists and also finished with 11 digs.
Cal U concludes a three-game homestand on Tuesday, Nov. 3, when it hosts IUP at Hamer Hall. The Senior Night match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
