SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. (Sept. 19) - The No. 13 California University of Pennsylvania volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 victory (25-14, 25-12, 25-7) against Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play on Friday night.
With the win, the Vulcans move to 14-0 overall and 3-0 in divisional play. Meanwhile, The Rock falls to 9-6 and 0-3 this season.
Junior
Joanna Nist (Rockwood, Pa./Rockwood) led Cal U with 15 kills, while
Ludmila Amaral (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Afonso Schimidt) added 12 kills. Senior
Mallory DeMarco (Cranberry, Twp., Pa./Seneca Valley) and sophomore
Julie Paronish (Hastings, Pa./Northern Cambria) each paced the defense with 12 digs each.
Junior
Renata Silva (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Ateneu) engineered the offense with 35 assists.
The Vulcans continue divisional play tomorrow night, Saturday, Sept. 20, with a 7 p.m. match against Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Hamer Hall.
