MILLERSVILLE, Pa. (Nov. 12) – In a rematch of last week's conference championship game and playing without its top goal scorer, the California University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss to No. 7 Millersville University in the first round of the NCAA Championship Tournament.
The Vulcans finish the season with a 13-8-2 record, only one win shy of tying the school record for wins in a season. Cal U won its first-ever Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship Tournament to earn the second NCAA berth in program history. Meanwhile, the Marauders improve to 17-3 overall and advance to face Slippery Rock University in the second round.
Millersville broke a scoreless tie in the 30th minute when freshman forward Anthony Pagnotti scored his first career goal off a rebound and assist from senior Sean McLaughlin. The Marauders quickly expanded their lead to 2-0 when freshman forward Aaron Roland scored his first goal of his career on a two-on-one breakaway with McLaughlin collecting the assist.
The first period featured physical play by both teams, as the two teams combined for 16 fouls with two Vulcans receiving yellow cards. Millersville held a 10-3 advantage in shots with five shots on goal in the opening 45 minutes of play.
In the second period, the Marauders added an insurance goal at the 57:26-mark when sophomore Kyle Laughlin scored his seventh goal of the year.

Derek Yobbi (South Park, Pa./South Park) registered three saves in 61-plus minutes of action, while classmate
Charlie Dagnal (Carnegie, Pa./Carlynton) posted one save in the remaining 28 minutes of play.
Millersville finished the game with a 21-10 advantage in shots and held a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.

Shakir McCoy (Huber Heights, Ohio/Tecumseh/Wayne) led the Vulcans with three shots, while classmate
Jeremy Blymiller (Erie, Pa./McDowell) and junior
Nick Helbig (Carnegie, Pa./Chartiers Valley) each added two shots.
