Mathiesen allowed one run (earned) over 8.0 innings in a 2-1 extra-inning victory over East Stroudsburg on Wednesday in an elimination game of the PSAC Tournament. He scattered just three hits and registered seven strikeouts against the Warriors, which entered the tournament ranked third in the Atlantic Region. Mathiesen prevented a runner from advancing into scoring position until the sixth inning and kept the Warriors scoreless for 7.1 innings before finishing the game with 130 pitches (82 strikes). The Montour product became the first freshman to start the opening game of the PSAC Tournament in a decade.
