CALIFORNIA (Sept. 9) – For the second-straight game, the Vulcans held an opponent scoreless for over 75 minutes before suffering a 1-0 loss against D'Youville (NY) at the Phillipsburg Soccer Facility on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.
NOTES
• California (1-3-1) has faced D'Youville in four-straight years with the last three meetings resulting in shutouts.
• The Saints, which are members of the East Coast Conference (ECC), opened the year with a scoreless tie against Slippery Rock last month.
• The game was scoreless through the first half with the teams combining for six shots (one on goal) and just one corner kick.
• The Saints scored the game-winning goal at the 79:02-mark and held the Vulcans to one shot attempt for the remainder of the game.
• D'Youville finished with a 10-8 advantage in shots with both teams tallying six attempts in the second half.
• The Saints also registered a 5-2 edge in corner kicks in the victory.
