CANTON, Ohio (Sept. 5) – The California men's soccer team held Malone (Ohio) scoreless for over 83 minutes before being dealt a 2-0 loss in non-conference play on Saturday afternoon.
NOTES
• The Vulcans (1-2-1) and Pioneers have played in each of the last four seasons with the home team winning each time.
• Malone tied for eighth in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) standings in 2025.
• The game was scoreless at the break, as the teams placed just two shots on goal on nine total attempts.
• The Pioneers took a 1-0 lead at the 83:25-mark and scored their insurance goal with just four seconds remaining in regulation.
• Cal finished with a 16-10 shot advantage after pressuring the net with 12 attempts in the second half and held a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.
